There are three main sources of content that we will be looking into. Images, Text and Video.
Text content is common across social media such as twitter, or description only posts on Facebook and LinkedIn. Text is usually broken down into short form and long form. Short form is similar to a Twitter post, short and sweet. Long form is similar to a 3 paragraph block of text on Linkedin. Which is better comes down to testing different sizes and seeing what the engagement is
Images are the most dominant form of content, usually supplemented by a text description. Most social platforms have imagery as the main driving force, like Instagram.
Video content is one of the better ways of engaging with your audience, it’s also one of the most challenging to create. Video content can be shared on most platforms and for the best results, uploaded natively to the platform instead of just uploading to YouTube and sharing the link.
There is a fourth – Audio mainly consists of podcasts where you are sharing knowledge, or an idea, to an audience. These are great if you are a subject matter expert, or have thoroughly researched a topic to talk about. Audio can be shared on Podcast applications such as Spotify, or as audio files on your website. Place that audio into a video editor, add an image and export for use on Social Media!
